Can you hear it? Hold your breath and listen as hard as you can. It’s snowing outside. Yes, snow. Lots of snow. The silent, soft, stillness that has the power to stop time, cancel just about everything, and suspend reality. I am passionately and unashamedly in love with snow.
I remember the Blizzard of ’96 as an absolute godsend. It stopped the world for a week so I could finish my dissertation. Here in Maryland they are calling this the Blizzard of 2009. So I figured I would celebrate by starting another writing project: this blog on WordPress.com. I’ve always wanted to write a blog, and am not quite sure where this will lead, but that doesn’t matter right now … it’s snowing outside.
By the way, if you’re reading this before January 4, 2010, you’ll see some snow on this web page courtesy of WordPress (it’s an optional feature they provide during the holidays that I just couldn’t resist).
